On Wednesday, November 16, 2022, a large bilateral meeting of Bulgarian and Serbian businessmen was held in the Great Hall of the PKS-RPK Nis, which was attended by representatives of the chamber systems of both countries and H.E. Petko Dojkov, Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Serbia. The main topic, which occupied numerous businessmen and officials present, concerned the analysis of the general economic situation, as well as the consideration of possibilities for further improvement of the current economic relations.

The delegation of Bulgarian businessmen was led by the president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Bulgaria (BTPP), Cvetan Simeonov and his associates, who emphasized the importance of direct meetings with business representatives from the Nis region, which were planned even before the “covid-19” pandemic. Today, according to Simeonov, opportunities for good trade exchange and mutual investments are opening up again. I expect the exchange to increase in the field of mechanical engineering, then in the production of auto parts and tourism. Special opportunities for cooperation are in the sphere of agriculture and agricultural products, for which there is a great demand. Tourism is an area that should be taken into account, given the rich history and archaeological heritage of both countries. H.E. Petko Dojkov, the ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria in Serbia, assessed the level of one and a half billion euros in foreign trade exchange between the two countries as a very good and stable indicator, as well as that the trend of mutual tourist visits of half a million tourists per year is quite satisfactory. According to the ambassador, around 700 companies are currently operating in Serbia, while 30 Bulgarian companies are present in the Nis region. Dojkov expressed satisfaction with the organization of the meeting, emphasizing the importance of cooperation in post-pandemic conditions, since, according to him, Serbia and Bulgaria are natural partners, and that Bulgaria strongly supports Serbia’s European perspective.
